A series of hydrozine bridged metal halides single crystals were synthesized. Among them were [Zn(N2H4)2F2]·2H2O and [Zn(N2H4)2F]·Cl, the structures of which were characterized and shown to be 1D infinite chains. The crystal structures of the two compounds show that these 1D chains are organized into 3D structures through hydrogen bonds, and the halide anions play an important role in the stability of the crystals. The components and connecting types of these chains were compared with [Zn(N2H4)2Cl2]·2H2O to illustrate the stabilizing effect of hydrogen bonds between one dimensional chains.
