Self-assessment(SA)is one of the principal factors in facilitating learner autonomy.This paper is aimed at evaluating learners'ability of self-assessment,compares and contrasts the significance of SA and CET SET in instructing learning process. The Questionnaires show that learners have misconceived criteria for assessing their oral ability,and the misconception leads them to attach importance to fluency,pronunciation and intonation but to the point of neglecting accuracy.This study has also found that,compared with SA,College English Test—Speaking English Test(CET SET)plays a more significant part in instructing learning.The paper raises issues concerning the application of autonomous learning to Chinese learners of Spoken English,and discusses the new perspectives for future work in the field of foreign language teaching and testing.
