The electrochemical behavior of catechol(QH2) was studied on glassy carbon electrode activated by cyclic voltammetry. In KH2PO4-Na2HPO4 buffer solution of pH=6.0,a couple of sensitive redox peaks were recorded about 0.18V in the cyclic voltammograms. The resulting electrode showed excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of catechol, making oxidation peak potential shife more negatively. The catalytic oxidation current of catechol was linear with its concentration in the range of 5.0×10-6~1.0×10-5mol·L-1.The correlative coefficient was-0.99567.The detection limit was 1.2×10-6mol·L-1.Moreover,the activated glassy carbon electrode exhibited high sensitivity and good reproducibility.
